Information about Roze Zaterdag Groningen
Dear residents,
We would like to inform you about the unique event, Roze Zaterdag Groningen, which will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the city center, mainly around the locations Grote Markt, Zwanestraat, Schuitemakersstraat, and Akerkhof. Roze Zaterdag is an annual event held in different cities, and this year it is an honor for Groningen to host it. The event celebrates diversity and inclusivity. The program for the day will run from 10:00 AM to midnight.
Program
From 7:00 AM, preparations for the various components of the event will begin. The program for the day will take place from 10:00 AM to midnight. Throughout the day, various activities and performances will be organized.
- Roze Mainstage – Grote Markt On the Grote Markt, the Roze Mainstage will feature various artists and DJs, including Sophie Straat, Willeke Alberti, and Babs. 1:30 PM – 12:00 AM
- Pink Podium Museum aan de A – Schuitemakersstraat In the courtyard of the Museum aan de A, you will find the storytelling café “Our Pink Past,” a reading table with republished works, Dorothy’s pop-up bar, and the show “Drag me to the A” featuring drag queens and music. 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Pride Walk – Ossenmarkt The Pride Walk starts with a musical reception at the Ossenmarkt and will parade through the city with floats and people. 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM (gathering at 10:30 AM)
- Streetpride – Zwanestraat The characteristic Streetpride of Pride Groningen takes place in the Zwanestraat, with performances by DJs and artists from Groningen and beyond. 4:30 PM – 12:00 AM
- Roze Viering – Akerk The interfaith celebration “In the Color of Your Heart” in the Akerk celebrates diversity, love, and connection with music, personal stories, and a ceremony of light. 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- Vier de liefde – Akerk Declare your love in the presence of real wedding officiants in the Akerk. For everyone who wants to celebrate love and friendship. 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Information Market – Schuitemakersstraat Throughout the day, an information market will take place around Schuitemakersstraat and part of Akerkhof. Various organizations will showcase their commitment to diversity and dealing with intolerance. 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
While we are mindful of the accessibility and livability in the area, the festivities will affect the usual accessibility around these locations. Some noise and traffic congestion are to be expected.
Traffic Measures
To ensure the event runs safely, several traffic measures will be in effect:
- Schuitemakersstraat will be closed to car traffic, including taxis, except for emergency services, between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
- The following streets will be closed to car traffic, including taxis, except for emergency services, between 12:00 PM and 1:00 AM:
- Oosterstraat
- Tussen Beide Markten
- Oude Ebbingestraat from Kwinkenplein towards Grote Markt
- Kreupelstraat from Kwinkenplein towards Grote Markt
- Sint Jansstraat near Martinikerk towards Grote Markt
- The following streets will be closed to car traffic, including taxis, except for emergency services, between 4:00 PM and 1:00 AM:
- Schoolstraat from Nieuwe Markt to Achter de Muur
These areas will remain as accessible as possible for cyclists and pedestrians.
Permit
The municipality of Groningen has granted a permit for this event. This permit includes regulations regarding noise and the maintenance of public order. You can rest assured that we will adhere to these regulations and do everything possible to ensure the event runs smoothly.
